Extreme Piercings

Sean is the owner of a second bellybutton - how is that for extreme piercings?

Dr. Daniel Jackson performed a percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) this afternoon at Primary Childrens Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. Sean is having a miserable time in Pediatric Intensive Care...but that's to be expected the day of surgery. Tomorrow Sean's new gastrostomy tube will be put to work.

What is a PEG? A lighted telescope was passed down Sean's throat into his stomach. After the tube was correctly positioned, short crosspieces of tubing or bolster were positioned to keep the tube in place. It may take up to ten weeks for the opening in the abdomen to heal adequately. (I'll let you google your own images...........)
